Redsn0w Jailbreak iPhone 3G and iPod Touch Free tool 2G IOS 4 (Jailbroken In a day of the first exit)
The current technique has been finagled from existing software jailbreak (PwnageTool, in particular) msft.guy. In addition to this preliminary hack, the iPhone Dev Team is claiming to have unlocking their own near prepared for iOS 4 finals, to be published in a month (probably to coincide with the release of the iPhone 4). In other words, just iOS official release 4, you should be able to jailbreak your device, or at least your iPhone 3G. (Nobody's been able to test the exploit on the iPhone 4.
Instructions to try the current jailbreak for 3G only, are available here, but it's probably a bad Choice: The final version is scheduled for late this month, at which point the process will probably be simplified to jailbreak (and anointed by the Dev Team), and after your jailbreak will last more than a few weeks.
Quotes of the Dev Team:
"
About an hour ago the new version of the iPhone operating system (now known as "IOS) has been released.
iOS 4 is a huge release of Apple with many many changes and these changes provide additional features slick.
These new features are offered by Apple as a free update for devices qualification.
We are working hard on a statement to our tools that jailbreak your device (or give you iOS 4 via the jailbreak process) and provide you with support unlock.
Until these tools are that you have published should have ceased to update your machine until we have fully tested our tools with all devices.
If you rely on hacktivation or carrier unlock (ultrasn0w) then you should not upgrade until we have tested and published our tools.
Do not be tempted to PwnageTool/redsn0w beams or unofficial releases, just check here or our team twitterfor real time release information.
Remember, we risk our aircraft so that you do not (but this time someone has made a mistake on their firmware upgrade baseband should be OK very soon;) Now!
For now, the beta version only supports redsn0w iPhone3G & iPod Touch 2G 4.0 update. It's still a beta, so you'll need to leave Cydia reorder, recharge, and updated after using redsn0w.
