The "Verizon iPhone" vs "the iPhone on Verizon's network"

If you think back to 2005, you will recall that the phone Motorola RAZR was all the rage. Not entirely unlike the Apple iPhone today it was stylish phone that everyone wanted. But if you happen to be the largest carrier in the United States, Verizon, you can not get one. Again, sound familiar?

It took almost a year later by a version (the V3c) finished by Verizon. It was a long wait, but I was happy to finally have access to the device, I pre-ordered one the first day I could. When I finally got there were a few surprises. Rather than having the same user interface as RAZRs colored my friends (on other networks) had she had the proprietary god-awful red interface made by Verizon itself. It also came with the added benefit of having Bluetooth file transfer capabilities disabled by Verizon. And it was loaded to the brim with Verizon V CAST garbage.

Thus, while a Part of the wait was probably due to a Motorola CDMA version of the device ready to sell, a majority was likely Verizon bargaining and working to load the camera with their crapware. This does not speak well for the iPhone Verizon assumed.

Rumors of the iPhone coming to Verizon are stronger today than they've ever been. There is no doubt that Apple has been working on a CDMA version of the device (Code named N92) for a while now, and maybe even in the process of its manufacture as we speak. But if this device is intended Verizon or Sprint (the other U.S. CDMA provider) remains to be seen. Without a doubt, Apple wants their camera to the country's largest carrier (Verizon) but they will probably also need to make sacrifices to get there. And Apple does not like to make sacrifices.

Much has been written about how Apple will probably have to take a smaller subsidy from the other U.S. carriers if they leave their exclusive contract with AT & T (which they gives a subsidy scandal that adds billions of dollars to their bottom line). But there is not much talk about the most fundamental thing Apple could have to drop through the device on Verizon: control.

Remember, when Apple launched the iPhone in 2007, the first carrier they went talk about an agreement was Verizon. The two sides could not reach an agreement at the time, and the main question is undoubtedly control. Apple had virtually no leverage when they were the new player in space with zero market share. Verizon knew that laughter and probably some of the requirements of Apple. So Apple AT & T, and the rest is history.

The Apple / Verizon talks have probably been done several times since launching the phenomenally successful (and subsequent launches updated version) of the iPhone. Both parties know that it is logical for the most popular smartphone to be the most popular network. But the question remains: who is ready to give up something to happen?

The last week I wrote a number of positions with the same basic refrain: the airlines suck. Each of these positions was part of Android, and specifically how the carriers are taking advantage of the opening of this operating system moving us back in time five years they had complete control over the American market – the time before the iPhone. Verizon is the worst writer to present. Is there any doubt they want to do the same with the iPhone?
