What do you think of the new Shuffle? Hoe does it operate?
I am looking for a smaller MP3 player for the gym. My iPhone is too large, as well as my old 60GB iPod that pretty much lives in my car anyway. I am torn between the Nano and Shuffle.
The old shuffle has the familar interface, and I really like the design… but only holds 2GB. for like $20 more I can get 4GB with the new smaller Shuffle. But I don’t know how it operates. Does the remote on the headphones skip tracks? You don’t have to control it by voice do you? There is no way I am talking to my iPod in the middle of the gym.
I thought that they would add a screen to this one and I still can’t understand why they haven’t. A voice will tell you that what the song is but I would find that really annonying. But no you don’t have to control it by voice it is controlled by the buttons on the headphones. Which puts forward another problem. You have very limited options when it comes to headphones, and even the companys that are putting out their own shuffle headphonws will only use it to put up the price. And the same thing with apple because even if you do decide to use their headphones you more than likely ending up forking out for a new pair when the old ones give up. But neither of these are the biggest problem with the shuffle. The biggest one is the size. It is very, very small. About the size of an SD card which means it could very easily get lost. So if I were you I would go for the nano in my opinion you need a screen it would drive me insane if I had to wait for the voice to interupt my music to tell me which song was listening to. Besides the nanos are really small and light now so I think they are great for what they offer.
