Can Apple be sued for giving misleading information about signal strength on iPhones?
In a recent letter, Apple Inc admitted that the display of signal strength (bars) on iPhones were completely wrong. Here is what they said:
“Upon investigation, we were stunned to find that the formula we use to calculate how many bars of signal strength to display is totally wrong. Our formula, in many instances, mistakenly displays two more bars than it should for a given signal strength.”

This misleading information led millions of people to believe that iPhone generally has better signal – a fact which boosted iPhone sales. Do customers or competitors have a case against them now?
Anybody can be sued for anything in this country. The question would not be can you sue, but rather could you win. In order to win any monetary damage you would in some way have to show damage caused by Apple’s actions.
