Yahoo imap mail – There are (sorta), but can it be used?

OK, there is a yahoo imap server: imap.mail.yahoo.com, port 143. He rejects my yahoo mail password. I hear the iPhone uses IMAP with Yahoo – nobody knows the current official position of Yahoo (or excuse) on IMAP for subscribers more? Or, how to configure it correctly if they offer IMAP. They do not seem to provide concrete information on this site.

From what I could gather by trial and error, Yahoo will provide access to all IMAP e-mail accounts, but only if the traffic is over a wireless network (Verizon, AT & T, etc.).
